Tiger Turf and Midway Electric are among the 56 companies nationwide that won a 2009 Blue Ribbon Small Business Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Tiger Turf and Midway Electric were finalists in the Columbia Chamber of Commerce 2008 Small Business of the Year Award. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce gives the award to businesses that demonstrate excellence in several categories of entrepreneurship, and the winners will be honored at America’s Small Business Summit 2009 on May 11-13 in Washington, D.C.

“In today’s difficult business climate, it is especially important to highlight those companies that continue to excel,” the U.S. Chamber’s president, Thomas J. Donohue, said. “It is their dedication to sound business principles that will enable us to rebuild our nation’s economy.”

Tiger Turf is a lawn and landscaping company established by Frank and Michelle Baumstark in 1996. Midway Electric is owned by Brandon and Michele Spry and was started in 2001.
