COLUMBIA, Mo.–MFA Oil Company acquired Smokey Mountain Propane Dec. 5, 2013—they sixth company its’ acquired since January. Smokey Mountain Propane is based out of Sylva, N.C. and has been owned and operated by Darrell and Lisa Pruett for 12 years.

Smokey Mountain Propane will continue its services in North Carolina, in Swain, Jackson, and Franklin counties, under Darrel Pruett’s management. MFA Oil will employ all of the current drivers.

“Smoky Mountain Propane is a quality acquisition in a new market territory,” MFA Oil Chief Operating Officer Mark Fenner said. “The Pruetts have built a nice business based on providing value to their customers, and this fits really well with our new strategic direction to grow our operations and expand the MFA Oil footprint.”

MFA Oil Company is a farmer-owned cooperative and one of the top ten propane companies in the United States. MFA Oil has also obtained Henderson Oil out of Columbia, Mo.; McCorkell Oil out of Piedmont, Mo.; Rowland Oil from Jackson Mo.; the refined fuel operations of MFA Cooperative; and American Petroleum Marketers from Booner Springs, Kan.

MFA Oil Company provides fuel, lubricants and propane in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Kentucky, Colorado, Iowa, Wyoming, Nebraska and Virginia. Just last week, the CBT reported that MFA Oil also purchased the 33-acre commercial site where Mamtek U.S. Inc. had planned to build a sucralose production facility in Moberly, Mo.
